On February 20, 2023, Dr. Charis Kamphuis submitted a brief to the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on International Trade on behalf of the Justice & Corporate Accountability Project. The brief described a study of environmental and human rights considerations regarding Canadian mining firms abroad. In her report, Dr. Kamphuis questions whether Canadian embassies are acting ethically in their support for Canadian mining companies abroad. Four studies based on access to information disclosure show a troubling trend. See our brief to the Canadian Parliament’s Standing Committee on International Trade.
