Violated Collective Rights: Brazil, The Multidimensional Impact of Extractive and Infrastructure Projects

Brazil, with 21 recorded cases, is the country with the highest number of cases (20.6% of the total recorded). The majority are related to the mining sector (33.3%) and agribusiness (28.6%), with gold and beef the main products associated with the violation of rights. However, infrastructure, despite representing only 14% of cases, is associated with 77.8% of the impacted communities. The S?o Manoel Dam alone has violated the right of 138 communities along the Teles Pires River basin. Five cases are related to Afro-descendant communities and twelve cases to indigenous communities.
